IMIAD PEOPLE!!! He is what to do J

1. Download and complete all the information in the 2008-2009 Application form for Incoming Students. Attach 2 photos to your application form.

2. It is best that you send your application documents to our EU Centre by post in coordination with the Erasmus Office of your university.

3. The ITU EU Centre will send a confirmation to the student's e-mail when your application is received.

4. All applications will be processed after December 1, 2007.

5. ITU EU Centre sends an acceptance letter and a visa letter by post to the student's home address which is indicated in the application form. You need to submit these two documents (the letter of acceptance and visa letter) to Turkish Embassy in applicant’s home country to obtain a visa (or the country of residence). Since you will be staying in the country for more than 3 months you will need to get a residence permit within one month of your arrival. I will guide you on this when you arrive, but you need to apply for a student visa – it will be too complicated and a lot more expensive if you dont, and you will not be able get one if you use a short term visa. You do not need a students visa or a residence permit if you plan to exit and re-enter turkey during your stay.

You can use a tourists visa if you are going to exit Turkey within three months, get another tourists visa and then re-enter. Some nationalities do not need a visa at all to enter and stay in the country for less than 3 months. However there is always a chance that judicial changes made,  so it is best for you to either confirm this info and the rules that apply to you from the nearest Embasssy or Consulate of Turkey, or go to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey at http://www.mfa.gov.tr and navigate through the website as so:  Home > Consular Info > For Foreigners > Visa Information.    There also is a link to an e-consulate service visa information page of the website of the ministry of foreign affairs which they can use to get more info and apply online.

6. Upon your arrival you should contact me. I will approve your erasmus learning agreement. This maybe THE most important document.  Please complete it and get it approved by your departmental and institutional coordinators and bring the original with you to istanbul (don’t mail the originals with your application document).

7.  I will then prepare the documents for you to enroll to the IMIAD classes/courses. I will also approve your ERASMUS_Confirmation_Certificates of your arrival. You will need to take these to the ITU EU Centre who will send the certificate to your home institution for your erasmus grant to be issued. They will also give you some orientation.

Here are some documents to guide you on issues such as residency permit, bus pass, library pass etc... these will give you an idea about the things that you will need to do in istanbul... we’ll try to post clearer documents later... anyway, we will guide you when you come here...
