Abstract: |
Simulation takes a very important part in the analysis and
design of railway transport systems. Simulation, for example, can bring
important advantages in cutting down the design costs by helping in choosing
the size of the power subsystem and finding out possible design problems in
time for a railway system to be constructed, and in determining suitability
of proposed changes to existing systems. However, in order to get these
benefits simulation should be done with as small assumptions as possible and,
hence, give realistic results. One of the important parameters that affect
the simulation results is the traction power velocity characteristics of
the vehicles to be used in the system. In this respect, a common assumption
seen in the literature is that these characteristics to be independent from
the potential available on the power line. Possible effects of such
assumptions on the simulation results are discussed in this note. |
