Baris Kiskan
Postdoctral associate
Research fields:
benzoxazine based materials
click chemistry
Researcher Profile
I have gained a strong background in polymers, thermosetting
materials, conducting polymers and their detailed
characterization with the state of the art instruments. These
research experiences were mainly developed during my PhD in the
Department of Chemistry (Istanbul Technical University,
Turkey).
Prior to my PhD studies, I have firstly graduated from
the Department of Chemistry of Uludag University and started to
masters of Science program in Istanbul Technical University on
the subject of conducting polymers from pyrrole derivatives. I
synthesized and characterized various pyrrole monomers and their
polymers.
During my PhD study, I have focused on several
different topics, ranging from the synthesis of nanocomposites
of benzoxazines with magnetite, the modification of polymers
with click chemistry to benzoxazine thermosets including monomer
synthesis. I published more than 20 papers and had a World
Patent with Henkel Company on the subject of
thermosettings.
Currently, in addition to the experimental
chemistry, I am working in Istanbul Technical University as
teaching assistant. I practically teach FT-IR, UV-Visible, NMR
spectroscopies,organic chemistry laboratory practice,both
organic and polymer synthesis to chemistry students and Also, I
was responsible of operating of a Bruker NMR device between
years 2003 and 2004. Finally, in 2010 I gained Max Planck
Fellowship and started my Postdoc. studies in Max Planck
Institute of Colloids and Interfaces..
