Prof. Dr. Tuncay Taymaz holds a B.Sc. degree in Geophysical Engineering (1985) from Karadeniz Technical University (Trabzon, Turkey), and a Ph.D. degree in Earthquake Seismology and Geophysics (1991) from University of Cambridge, Darwin College (England). He is currently a Professor of Seismology and Geophysics at Istanbul Technical University (Turkey). He has received numerous national and international science prizes and awards for scientific excellence. His research interests span a wide range of topics from earthquake source studies and tsunami simulations to crustal and lithospheric structures, anisotropic seismology, and 3D multi-scale full-waveform tomography using super-computers and state-of-art seismographic observations on land and marine environments. He has co-edited and co-published special publications books and special issues at prestigious distinguished earth-science societies and ISI journals. Dr. Tuncay Taymaz is in close cooperation with Springer, and presently oversees as one of Book Series Editor for Springer Publications (Japan), Advances in Geological Science. He has organized many prestigious workshops, symposium, tutorial seminars, and recently The Humboldt Kolleg-2016Advances in Earthquake Seismology and Geodynamic Modelingsupported by The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany.
