Prof. Dr. Tuncay Taymaz holds a B.Sc. degree in Geophysical
Engineering (1985) from Karadeniz
Technical University (Trabzon,
Turkey), and a Ph.D. degree in
Earthquake Seismology and Geophysics (1991) from University of Cambridge,
Darwin College
(England). He is currently a Professor of Seismology and Geophysics at Istanbul Technical University
(Turkey). He has received numerous national and international science prizes
and awards for scientific excellence. His research interests span a wide
range of topics from earthquake source studies and tsunami simulations to
crustal and lithospheric structures, anisotropic seismology, and 3D
multi-scale full-waveform tomography using super-computers and state-of-art
seismographic observations on land and marine environments. He has co-edited
and co-published special publications books and special issues at prestigious
distinguished earth-science societies and ISI journals. Dr.
