Course Outline:

o    Introduction

o    Fundamentals of signal and system analysis, with applications drawn from filtering, audio and image processing, communications, and automatic control.

o    Convolution,

o    Fourier series and transforms,

o    Sampling

o    Discrete-time processing of continuous-time signals,

o    Modulation,

o    Laplace transform

o    Z-transforms

o    Feedback systems.

o    System design

 

Homework:               Homework will be assigned during lecture periods and will be collected (will be graded by the teaching assistant)

 

Quizzes and exams:  There will be 5-7 quizzes (10-15 min each), plus two midtem exams (two hours each) and the final exam (two hours).

                                    NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES OR NO MAKE-UP EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN.

 

Grading:                   The course grade will be based on the performance on homework, quizzes, midterm exams and the final exam. Class participation is also evaluated. The course grade will be determined based on the following formula:

   

Grade=(Homework+Quizzes)*0.20+2*Midterm*0.20+Final*0.40
