I am an enthusiastic water resources engineer and a gradute of Istanbul Technical University under the hydraulics and water resources engineering program from the civil engineering department in 2022 after securing the prestigious post-graduate Turkish scholarships TÜBİTAK and Türkiye Scholarship. In 2008, I was awarded the Belgian VLIR-UOS M.Sc. scholarship for my gradute study in the Water Resource Engineering program of Kuleuven & VUB (IUPWARE). In 2006, I have completed my undergraduate study in the field of Soil & Water Engineering program from the Institute of Technology, Haramaya University, Ethiopia. I served in the same department as a garduate assistant and later as full time lecturer. Curretly, I am working as an assitant professor at Istanbul Kültür University, İstanbul, Turkiye after briefly working for a year at FSM Vakif University.

Research experience
-
Gridded Precipitation Weather product Assessment
We have assessed the accuracy of gridded precipitation products for two basin with scarce ground weather stations (Eastern Black Sea and Blue Nile Basin) in fulfillment of my doctoral study. SWAT, ArcGIS and a number of gridded precipitation products were assessed in the study.
-
Ground Water Modeling
I have participated in an Integrated Project design for a semi-arid basin (Basan do ku) while I was at Kuleuven and my task was to model the groundwater of the basin and assess the sustainability of its water yield. Visual Modflow was used in the study.
-
Surface Water Modeling
Stochastic modeling has been my interest while I was doing my Masters research on the Blue Nile Basin. I have implemented the semi-distributed surface water model - SWAT- in my study to assess the impact of land use and climate change impact on the Blue Nile Basin.
-
Climate Change Analysis
My research title in my graduate study was “Analyzing the Impact of Land use change and Climate Change on the Blue Nile Basin using SWAT”. It has helped me to well understand the climate change phenomena and how it impacts our environment in general and the water resources in particular.
Flood management
Haramaya University is one of the partner universities in the consortium of Ethiopian and European Universities called 'University Water Sector Partnership'. As a Water Resource Engineer, I have got the chance to participate in one of the projects titled 'Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM)'. I was assigned in preparing the lecture notes and slides on Flood and Drought Management which will be used for the IRBM Masters course that has been launched under the program.
