SUMMARY

Due to big scaled and complicated projects and the number of participants increase the importance of organizing the information required for realizing the production in construction. So, Communication Management has become more serious problem in project and corporate levels in building construction management. It is one of the basic problems to determine or decide the content of information needed, gathering, storing and distributing tools in construction projects.

The problem can be handled in both project and corporate levels considering the intersections among the modules that form whole information system. The subject of this study, is to design a Computer-Based Information System that aims to organize the information that is required by the functional departments at both site and  corporate levels.

The objectives of this research project, is to analyze the required information system by considering the modules of a management information system as interrelated components of the whole system; to define the needed database and coding structures; to develope a software model that forms the management information system in construction site. The model contains the basic components stated below:

01. Time Management Module
02. Human Resources Management Module
03. Materials Management Module
04. Equipment Management Module
05. Cost Management Module
06. Sub-contractor Management Module
07. Suppliers Management Module
08. Design Management Module
09. Communication Management Module
10. Quality Management Module
11. Procurement Management Module
12. Entrepreneur Management Module
13. Project Management Module

All of these moduls were handled first in terms of the relationships among each other and environment; then the software was developed on a relational database basis by using MS Access for Win'95 and MS Access Developer Toolkit.
