After completing her high school education in American College for Girls (Robert College), she has graduated from Middle East Technical University as a Civil Engineer in 1978. She has finished Institute of Management in Istanbul University in 1979. Between the years 1979-1992, she has worked as a research assistant in Construction Management Department of Istanbul Technical University. In 1981-1982, she made studies in Innsbruck Informatic Institute as a scholarship researcher of Austrian Government. After finishing her Ph.D. in Management in Istanbul University (1988) , she went to University of Maryland , Construction Management Department as a post-doctoral researcher (1989-1991). In 1992 she has become an Assistant Professor in Maritime Faculty. In 1993, she made studies in Southampton Institute for 3 months. Since 1995-Today ,she is the Department Head of Maritime Transportation and Port Management. She has become an Associate Professor in the same department in 1996. In 2003, she has been promoted as a full Professor.She has 28 international and 10 national papers and articles and a book translation about "Port Logistics". She has taken chairmanship in many national and international conferences. She also supervised 7 Master thesis. Her main interest areas are Construction Management, Port Management and Maritime Transportation. She also has taken part in the Disaster Management project of ITU- FEMA in 2000-2001.
