diagenesis of clay minerals, hydrothermal alteration, rock weathering,
bentonite, kaolinite and sepiolite deposits, industrial raw-materials, low-
temperature sedimentary geochemistry, clastic depositional environments
and Miocene lacustrine basins in Turkiye. I taught
Undergraduate Level: Mineralogy, Optic Mineralogy, Igneous and
Metamorphic Petrography, Clay Mineralogy and Sedimentation;
Graduate Level: X-Ray Diffraction, Clay Mineralogy and Shale Petrology,
Sandstone Diagenesis courses.
Jan 1976 GRADUATE STUDENT. Studied on clastic depostional
Dec 1985 environments, basin analysis, well-log analysis, shale petrology, clay
mineralogy, sandstone petrology, low-temperature sedimentary geochemistry,
water-rock interactions and, petroleum geochemistry and geology. Did
intensive world-wide research on various types of anoxic environments
(organic matter-rich shales) and Pennsylvanian cyclothems in Midcontinent.
Also, did research on organic geochemistry to examine thermal maturation
history of the black shales. Studied hydrothermal ore deposits in the ophiolite
complex, and facies analysis of flysch sedimentation and pelagic sediments in
the Jurassic Paleo-Tethyan Ocean, Turkey.
Used the following instruments: Atomic Absorption, X-Ray Diffraction,
X-Ray Fluorescence, SEM-EDS, TEM, Flame Photometry and Electron Microprobe.
Taught the following courses: Physical geology, historical geology, sedimentary
and metamorphic petrology.
