Soviet cinema, which produced a number of classics in its very first decades, is almost as old. The films made by Sergei Eisenstein and Alexander Dovzhenko, Vsevolod Pudovkin and Sergei Yutkevich, Boris Barnet and the Vasilyev brothers, Lev Kuleshov and Mikhail Romm, and the creative alliance of Grigori Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg have secured a firm place for Soviet cinema in the family arts.
