I was born in Haydariye (a beautiful mountain village in Bursa, Turkey) where I spent my early childhood, in 1962. I completed middle school in a small coastal town, Gemlik. After passing the entry exams, I spent 4 years in Bursa Demirtaspasa Technical College and gained the technicianship in electricity.

In 1980, I passed the university entry exams and moved to Istanbul. I received the BSc and MSc degrees in electronics and telecommunication engineering from the Yildiz Technical University, in 1984 and 1987 respectively. I gained the PhD degree in Medical Physics from the University of Leicester, in 1994.

Currently I am a Professor in the Computer Engineering Department, İstanbul Technical University. My CV can be downloaded for more details. Among my personal interests are poetry, music, and walking.
