I was born in Haydariye
(a beautiful mountain village in Bursa, Turkey) where I spent my early
childhood, in 1962. I completed middle school in a small coastal town,
Gemlik. After passing the entry exams, I spent 4 years in Bursa Demirtaspasa
Technical College and gained the technicianship in electricity.
In 1980, I passed the university entry exams and moved to Istanbul. I received the BSc and MSc degrees in electronics and telecommunication engineering from the Yildiz Technical University, in 1984 and 1987 respectively. I gained the PhD degree in Medical Physics from the University of Leicester, in 1994. Currently I am a Professor in the Computer Engineering Department, İstanbul Technical University.
