1Criteria for Reference Letters
I prepare reference letters according to the following criteria:
- Your performance in the courses you took from me: exam results, assignments, class participation.
- If you did it with me, your performance in your graduation project.
- My impressions of your conduct towards me and the teaching assistants of my courses.
If cheating has been detected in your exams or assignments, this will negatively affect the reference letter. In that case, please do not ask me for a reference letter.
2Timing
Reviewing your record and writing an appropriate letter takes time. Therefore, please submit your request in advance, keeping in mind that during busy periods it may take up to a week for the letter to reach you.
3Required Information and Documents
I recommend that you obtain reference letters from the faculty members of the courses in which you were successful. If, according to the criteria above, you would like to get a reference letter from me, please send me the following information and documents:
- For what purpose is the reference letter requested? MSc, PhD, job application, internship ...
- To whom will the reference letter be submitted? University, institute, department, program, company ...
- In which language should the letter be written? Turkish or English.
- Some universities and organizations have their own reference forms. In that case, please send me the form electronically. Before sending it, do not forget to fill in the parts about yourself. If there is no specific form, please state this.
- The courses you took from me, the years in which you took them, and your final grades.
- Your transcript (an electronic copy is fine).
- Other documents that will help me fill in the reference form, e.g. your TOEFL certificate.
