A Hierarchical Interconnection Network for Real Time Distributed Multiprocessor Architectures

Abstract:
In this paper we present a hierarchical network suitable for interconnection of real-time processes in a distributed multiprocessor environment. A multi-layer communication unit prototype is developed for this purpose [Tanenbaum, A.S., Computer Networks, Prentice-Hall, 1989]. This unit offers the client processes services for real time operation. These services are structured in such a way that they do not depend on the characteristics of the communication links.
